Stack rebooting issue

support.info1

Hi everyone !

I have a stack of 2 3650 that works fine. Each member has a number and its priority (switch 1 priority 1, switch 2 priority 2)

Recently I had to shut down this stack due to electric work. when I restarted the stack, the switch with priority 2 was the first to boot and seemed to be the active one for the stack.

But I couldn't explore my network.

I connected to console port on this switch a saw that it proposed me to create a basic configuration (the same as when you just but the switch and make the first start !)

I rebooted the 2 switche, making sure the first one with priority one was online first, and it ran ok !

How counld it be that my second switch "lost" the startup config to restore and lead the switch after being the first one to be ready ?

How can I verify this stack memeber has the same config files than the other ?

Thanks for help !

Switches participate in the election if they all boot-up within 20 to 60 seconds -depends on IOS version-. Otherwise, the first switch that boots will be the master.

To verify both switches have same config means they are part of the same stack.

Stack# show switch

Switch# Role Mac Address Priority Version State
----------------------------------------------------------
*1 Master 0018.ba60.de00 15 1 Ready
2 Member 0018.ba60.ce00 14 1 Ready

Stack master and switch priority conflicts are resolved in this order:
1. The switch that is already master remains unchanged.
2. The switch (or stack) whose master has a higher user-configured priority.
3. The switch (or stack) that is not using the default configuration.
4. The switch (or stack) with the more recent license or image version.
5. The switch (or stack) with the higher hardware priority or hardware version.
6. The stack with the most members (if two stacks are being connected).
7. The switch with the lowest MAC addresses.

Hi,

Thank you for reply.

Here is what the command show switch displays :

Switch/Stack Mac Address : xxxx.xxxx.xxx1 - Local Mac Address
Mac persistency wait time: Indefinite
H/W Current
Switch# Role Mac Address Priority Version State
------------------------------------------------------------
*1 Active xxxx.xxxx.xxx1 1 V01 Ready
2 Standby xxxx.xxxx.xxx2 2 0 Ready

Switch are same model 3650 (baught at the same time at the same reseller), but curiously H/W version is not the same...

You should be good as both are in ready state. Please post show version.

Here is th result of show version command :
