Stacked 3750X output queue drop reason?

Hi all
Please accept my apologies for posting so much command output and thanks in advance for your support.
- I am tring to find the reason for drops on the port connected to my colleague's pc but unfortunately haven't been able to conclude. I have googled and came across following commands used by others attempting to find the reason for drops.
- Secondly I understand that 3750x has four output queues named queue 0, queue 1, queue 2, queue 3 and the output of command "show mls qos interface Gi5/0/21 statistics" confirms that but why is command "remote command 5 sh platform port-asic stats drop Gi5/0/21" showing eight queues (Queue 0 to Queue 7). FYI the drop counters for output queue 1 matches in the output of both commands.
- Thirdly in the output of command
sh platform pm if-numbers relevant to 5/0/21
indicates that it is on ASIC 1 port25. I am not able to understand how is that a logical port with in 1 or what?

Hello,
here is the procedure to tune the queue on your interface (the procedure used is described in the link at the bottom of this post):
Make sure queue set 2 is assigned to interface GigabitEthernet5/0/21
Switch_Stack(config)#int gi5/0/21
Switch_Stack(config-if)#queue-set 2
This is what the interface configuration should look like:
Switch_Stack#show run int gi5/0/21
interface GigabitEthernet5/0/21
switchport mode access
mls qos trust dscp
queue-set 2
Configure the below:
Switch_Stack(config)#mls qos queue-set output 2 buffers 10 50 10 30
Switch_Stack(config)#mls qos queue-set output 2 threshold 2 3100 3100 100 3200
And verify if the values have been assigned correctly:
Switch#show mls qos queue-set
Queueset: 1
Queue : 1 2 3 4
----------------------------------------------
buffers : 25 25 25 25
threshold1: 100 200 100 100
threshold2: 100 200 100 100

I just wanted to note, what Georg is suggesting, may indeed reduce drops in one queue, but it may create drops in other queues.
As I noted in my other post, the 3750 series is a bit infamous on the subject of queue drops especially when QoS is enabled.
Often tuning QoS is an on-going interactive effort, as you try to find the optimal settings for your device(s) and your traffic.
Again, I suggest you might search this site for additional posts on this subject. I recall some of my posts show how to configure the 3750 series to work more like the earlier 3K switches, those that used more of a dynamic pool approach. Depending on your traffic, that approach might work very well (might not too - again, QoS tuning rarely one size fits all).

George : I shall be applying the suggested config this week. Can you please help me understand more by explaning the suggested config change.
- The copy of output from the command "show mls qos int gi5/0/21 statistics " is below. Am I correct in understanding that queue set one's queue 1 had packets queues at threshold1, threshold2, threshold3. Whereas queuesets two queue 1 had 99332 packets queued at threshold1 and 25 at threshold2 and none for threshold3

And for this reason (less enqueued) you have suggested to use queue set 2 for interface GigabitEthernet5/0/21 and set buffer value 50 for queue 2. I guess that queue1 in output of command show mls qos int gi5/0/21 statistics equates to queue 2 in the command (config)#mls qos queue-set output 2 buffers 10 50 10 30 ?
-Secondly this is a stack of six switches so should I set half of ports to use queue set 1 and remaining half of the ports to queue set 2
Joseph: I agree that tehre me be an adverse effect after applying the config. I will keep and eye and optimise as required. Moreover I will search for your posts regarding 3750 too.
