I have a RMA 4507+ SUP7LE that I need to reprovision the ipbase license for the replacement chassis. I looked at the deployment guide for upgrade http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-4500-series-switches/white_paper_c11-685524.html and have a few questions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
After reading the license activation guide it has it as
license install usb0:FOX1349GA3Z_20110108191907574.lic
license boot level ipbase
reload <making standby in slot 4 to active>
-console into previously active sup in slot 3 and issue break sequence to prevent it from booting to force into ROMMON mode
-after the New active SUP engine stabilizes to allow the NEW standby to fully boot
-after the standby stabilizes SSO should be restored and both SUP engines have IPBASE license active in-use
-once confirmed make the SUP engine in slot 3 back into active
redundancy force-switchover
<confirm everything is normal and stable>
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Instead of doing all of those steps can't I just do it this way:
license install usb0:FOX1349GA3Z_20110108191907574.lic
<check if sso is running if not enable it>
conf t
redundancy
mode sso
end
copy run start
power cycle the entire chassis
show license image level <to confirm both active and standby SUP engines have ipbase installed
