Storm and Flooding Control

Hi. I'm currently looking at purchasing a layer 2 10/100/1000 switch, possibly a 2930G which the Presales dept suggested. My main concern is that the switch be able to shut down a port in the event of a broadcast or multicast storm, or mac flooding. They advised me that this is possible with all Cisco switches, depending on how they're configured. I will use rate limiting/storm-control to help reduce the amount of broadcast and multicast traffic, but am concerned that it wouldn't hold up for very long and overload the CPU. Can anyone confirm whether or not my suspicions are correct, please. Thanks.
