Hello,
STP is just the overall term. IEEE has a couple of open source STP implementations, such as MSTP and RSTP. Cisco has its own, such as PVST, PVST+, and PPVST+. So to answer your question, it all depends on what type of STP you are looking at.
from the link below:
'There are many types of STP variants. Some of them are Cisco proprietary, some of them are standardized by IEEE.
Cisco’s proprietary variants are Per-VLAN Spanning Tree Protocol (PVST), Per-VLAN Spanning Tree Protocol Plus (PVST+) and Rapid PVST+.
IEEE’s standards are Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) and Multiple STP (MSTP).'

Protocol Standard Resources Needed Convergence STP Tree Calculation
STP | IEEE 802.1D | Low | Slow | All VLANs |
PVST+ | Cisco | High | Slow | Per VLAN |
RSTP | IEEE 802.1w | Medium | Fast | All VLANs |
Rapid PVST+ | Cisco | High | Fast | Per VLAN |
MSTP (MST) | IEEE 802.1s, Cisco | Medium or high | Fast | Per instance |
you can see from table above that PVST+ and R-PVST+ it list under standard cisco not IEEE that meaning it cisco proprietary.
