Strange latency issue

I am experiencing a strange issue with within our network. We are experiencing a client having latency issues when configured with one ip address inside a /24 subnet. If we change this ip address to another ip within the same subnet the latency seems to return to normal. If we change it back the latency starts to spike once again. It only happens when doing pings to some clients and not others.

I have tried to check if this could be related to routing, but the client seem to take the quickest path as expected.

I have also done wireshark on the client together with a packet capture on the firewall to try and isolate where the issue is coming from and it seems to me that the issue happens on the way to the gateway.

Our network is pretty simple and we only have two hops in between. We are running Layer 2 up until our firewall, which is the gateway for all subnets.

Any ideas on what we could check for?

Hard to know without seeing the configs, but could it be that you are using the same IP for 2 different devices (duplicate IP)?
