Hello All,
I've got an issue I'm having a hard time getting a grip on. We're a K12 school who just started using a new streaming video package. It's basically educational videos of various lengths.
We have rolled it to all of our buildings. So far, I'm getting complaints from one building regarding the performance. It's taking forever for videos to load. From a high level view, if a building was going to have trouble it would be this one. Each school has a core switch. I have two 4507s and a 4506 located at the other buildings. The trouble building has a 3560 as the "core" switch.
Generally speaking, I've had no issues from the problem building. We have done multicast video, the whole school is Cisco voice for the phones, plus your regular everyday generic data transfer.
So after digging around I found one suggestion, and that was to change the SDM template to routing. The 3560 is operating as a layer 3 device and doing routing. However, I'm not convinved the problem is related to routing. I think the application might be messy how it handles I/O and the core switches in the other buildings can keep up, but the 3560 can't.
Any thoughts on this and what I may want to look more deeply into? Thanks in advance.
