Subnet design considerations

Hello,

Can anyone tell me there own requirements they have when creating subnets for there organizations such as the number of hosts, departments, security, Qos, servers, layer 2, layer 3, and bandwidth, etc?

Hi,

well I think that the most common topics to use subnets in your company refers to departments/HQ. If you divide the network by departments, then you can improve the security, QoS, and priorize the bandwidth for example. Of course you can (or should) use a subnet or DMZ for all your servers.

The number of host will be necessary to the segmentation tasks of your A,B or C IP range.
