Sup2T - VSS Dual Supervisor Support

Does anyone have a estimated date for when dual supervisors in the same chassis for VSS will be supported?

Will it also be safe harbor? If not, also an estimated date for that? Thanks!

Hi Giuseppe,

I checked it internally and here is the answer for you:

Quad Sup SSO with VSS for Sup2T is going to be supported in 15.1(1)SY1

release. This release is targeted to be out in Q1 CY2013.

Hi Robert,

Starting with 12.2(33)SXI4 we support Quad Sups with VSS.

The quad-supervisor configuration for VSS is supported with 12.2(33)SXI4

and later. All the four supervisors will need to be running the same

version of code. The setup should essentially be plug and play, as long

as the boot variables are set up correctly for all the four supervisors.

The secondary sup in each chassis would be in RPR warm status.

We have some documentation on this at the link below.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12

.2SX/configuration/guide/vss.html#wp1204229

It also enables the standby supervisor to take over as the in-chassis active, in

the event of an active sup failure. Here is more information on this

configuration:

Hello InayathUlla,

the question is about support of quad supervisors with Sup 2T the information that you have provided is likely valid for VS-720 supervisors.

config guide for Sup2T says

With some exceptions, VSS mode has feature parity with non-VSS mode. Major exceptions include:

>>>>>VSS mode does not support supervisor engine redundancy within a chassis. <<<<<<

Port-based  QoS and PACLs can be applied to any physical port, except VSL ports.  PACLs can be applied to no more than 2,046 ports.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/15.1SY/config_guide/sup2T/virtual_switching_systems.html#wp1054565

Several people has faced the fact that Sup2T VSS does not support 4 supervisors up to now, this is the question.

Are you able to check internally to see if it is on the roadmap ?

Hope to help

Giuseppe

A colleague of mine raised a TAC case on this issue recently.

The TAC engineer informed him that the next version 15 update will support Quad Sup 2T VSS. It is to be released within the next few months.

Cheers

Sean

Ok, sorry if I wasn't clear. Let me rephrase.

We are well aware that Quad Sup for "SUP2T" is not supported in the current release and will be supported in the "future"

We just need to know when it will be supported. An estimated date would be nice. Thank you.
