Hi,
These messages are from Module 6. Is your sup in modules 6 or is this a line card?
What is the output of "sh module"?

Make sure the supervisor card is properly inserted/seated on the slot.
If it is, then contact Cisco TAC and get the card RMA-ed.

Will do this excercise and update.
04-19-2013 08:37 PM
In addition to what Leo suggested, it maybe also helpful if you load a different version of IOS. It could be software issue.
HTH
04-22-2013 07:15 PM
I have same IOS running on my other 720 SUP/6506 with same cards and hardware. so i believe it might not be software issue?
04-19-2013 10:08 PM
Hi Ahmed,
This error message means that there was no communication between the
supervisor and the MSFC. This is most likely a hardware issue that could
however have been transient. The usual procedure is to monitor the router to
be sure it does not reoccur. If it happens again, then supervisor needs to
be RMA.
Whats the status of this module under show module?
Also plan for RMA of the module.

Canto do RMA, since ots not under RMA contract with Cisco :-s
04-22-2013 07:54 PM
Hi Ahmed,
If no contract for RMA. Then I would suggest to do the Hard Reset of the module on this switch and update me the result.
1- Remove all the modules which are showing Minor Error and insert it one by one.
2- Get the following outputs:
1- Show module
2- show logging
3- show diagnostic result module all.

Hi Inayat,
Sorry i am late here , actually had to involve onshore field support to help me out.
i have taken out all modules, and now only SUP720 and one FastEthernet module present in the Switch.
i asked Field support to remove all Cards, and then put back Sup720 and one FastEthernet module.

Hi Ahmed,
Try thi:
1- Remove all the modules
2- Just insert the Sup module on Slot 5 and check if that passes the test.
3- If you got to see as success then wait for few mins to see if that works out.
4- then try inserting module 2 and check.
5- follow the same if the sup worked fine.
If all this fails then its indication of back plane issue.

What recent change made on the device before seeing this error.
Sent from Cisco Technical Support Android App

it has been sitting idle since year i guess never looked at it since it was a backup hardware to be used in extreme cases, recently was just checking it by chance. and found these errors.
tried soft reload. but error still there.

I have had no end of problems with supervisor modules for 6500 series. As others suggest, switch IOS and ROMMON to the latest available General Release. Avoid early deployment (they have ED in the filename).
There is a battery on the card that acts like a CMOS battery on a standard PC motherboard. If the above doesn't fix it, try taking that out and putting back in. TAC got me to do that for a bug I was getting that wouldn't let me change confreg in ROMMON or Native IOS. Do you have a spare or another router using a Sup720 that you could swap out? That would rule out a line card failure.
Just wrote all that and noticed this:
*May 15 15:32:46: %PM_SCP-SP-3-TRANSCEIVER_UNSUPPORTED: Unsupported transceiver in LAN port 6/2
The problem is whatever is in 6/2. I put money on it being a non-cisco SFP. There are two commands you are going to want here:
To enable your non-cisco transceiver:
service unsupported-transceiver
That is a hidden command, tab and ? will not help you enter that command.
Then you probably want to prevent error-disable caused by non-Cisco SFP. To do this enter:
no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid
Then perform a reload. Even though it takes the command I am not sure it is processed until next boot up.
Caveat: The above is likely to not make you best friends with TAC. So maybe check with them first. Also you could just insert a Cisco SFP You will likely need to reload for the device to recover though.
Let me know if that fixes it. I often use Finisar SFP, but still have problems with RJ45 GBIC. Fibre seems to be ok though.
