Does anyone know what the pinout is supposed to be on the RJ45 to DB9 adapter? I've tried pinning it to a general config I find on other sites, but when I use it with a standard Cat5 cable, I get no communication with the supervisor III engines on two different switches.
I do know the proper settings for the com port and have it set. I feel the adapter is the issue, and want to make sure it's pinned correctly.
Thanks!!

THe pin-out spec is for a "Rolled" cable:
pin1 --> pin8
pin2 --> pin7
pin3 --> pin 6
(and so on)
Standard jumpers are going to be straight-through (1->1, 2->2, 3->3, {etc})
Here's a link for the console pinouts ...
THe COM port should be 9600, none, 8, 1 (and *NO* hardware or software handshake). It can be changed, but default is as above.
Good Luck

Carl,
Do your self a favor and buy an original Cisco cable. Here is a line from the Cisco GPL:
CAB-S3-CONSOLE Supervisor III Console Cable Kit $25.00

Thanks for the replies guys! I may end up doing just that, buying the adapter and cable. The only adapters sold in/around Kansas City are the unfinished type and if you don't get the exact color to number pinouts right, you trash the adapter.
Thanks again!
Carl
