I have a cisco 6506 switch, every minute the kernel process has a peak of 93.9% that lasts a second, then returns to normal. What can be causing this behavior?

IOS Version: 12.2(18)SXF11

Supervisor: Supervisor Engine 720 (WS-SUP720-3B)

CPU utilization for five seconds: 98%; one minute: 41%; five minutes: 22%
PID/TID   5Sec    1Min     5Min Process             Prio  STATE        CPU
1        93.9%   29.5%    12.8% kernel                                12d14h
      1   1.6%   59.5%    78.0% [idle thread]          0  Ready       1028d

You may be hitting CSCsl06431. Try upgrading to 12.2(33)SXH2a and see if that helps to resolve your issue.

++Are you running modular IOS? If yes, let me know the exact image.

++Have you tried reloading the switch after you saw this issue?
