Switch Capability question / buying help

I'm currently doing an accademic study regarding jitter and latency on 100mbps ethernet.

I want to perform some experiments where i can play with the queueing system on the switch in as finite detail as possible.

I will be running up to 4 PC's at up to 100% utilisation

There are numourous 2nd hand switches on e-bay for aprox £30 i beleive would be suitable.

I was just wondering if anyone had any guidance on specific models or IOS versions and their capabilityies in this area.

Hi David,

i think  12.2(55)SE3           C2960-LANBASEK9-M will be good for your lab. or its depend on you what you want to use.

2960 are quit good for home labs and samll business.
