Switch Console password

Hi,

I've set the console password on a switch however when I hyperterm onto the switch I don't get prompted for a password.

Below is the commands I put in for the console password.

Line console 0

password (password)

Login

Can anyone explain where I maybe going wrong.

what does it prompt you for if not a passwprd or does it just let you in ?

is there any other security config on it already like AAA

Hi Mark,

It just let me into the switch.  The only config is telnet, enable and secret passwords.

Hi Mark/Dol

The switch is a cisco c2960G but I think I've sorted it now.  It looks like the switch need a reboot before the console password will take effect.
