Hi,
Can anyone suggest which model is best suitable for the below scenario:
We have microsoft servers and other application servers (around 12 in nos) which should have gig connections to the access switch. In turn this access switch will be connected to our distribution switch 4503. Which model of access switch best fits from the below 3 models. It should be cost effective as well.
WS-C2960 S-24PS-L
WS-C2960-24TS-L
WS-C3560G-24TS-S
Thanks,

You do know that these three models may be used in a Data Centre environment but when it comes to sustained throughput from the servers the switches are no match.
WS-C2960S-24PS-L
That's a PoE switch. You need PoE in your DC?
WS-C2960-24TS-L
24 ports 10/100BaseTx with two 10/100/1000BaseTx. You sure this is enough?
WS-C3560G-24TS-S
I believe this model is already end-of-sale. You can still get one from Cisco Refurbished Equipment.

Hi,
I don't require POE in DC and i was not aware of 3560 end of sale. I prefer to choose WS-C2960-24TS-L.
Thanks for ur info...

Really shure about that?
you only get FastEthernet Ports...
Maybe go for 2960S-24TS-S or 2960S-24TS-L
They have different feature sets, check this out:

Hi Thomas,
Model WS-C2960S-24TS-L seems to be a better option than the previos one which includes data stacking, 4 gig SFP and 10/100/1000 eth ports. We will go for this if it is cost effective.
Thanks for the input...

Hi,
As per ur suggestion 2360 switch also plays the expected role but we are looking for 4* 24 port switch.
WS-C2960S-24TS-L switch is cheaper than 2360 and it suffies our requirement.
Thanks for ur suggestion...

Yes you are right, 2960 cheaper but 2360 designed specially for DC and include 4 10gb sfp+ uplinks, dual field-replaceable PSU and field-replaceable dual-fan module. Although, if you are not planning to use 2960s for iscsi/nfs heavy traffic they are just fine.

Hi,
Right now traffic is less on the server segment and mgmt is concerned about cost. Will consider similar model 2360 during the expansion of DC...
Thanks,
Raffi...
