Hi,

I have lately started to recieve large amount of alerts in my Ciscoworks from my few 3550 switches uplinked to a 3750 Core switch. Few of the events are below -

1) EVENT DESCRIPTION = HighUtilization::Component=PORT-10.5.11.207/1.49 [Gi0/1];OutputPacketRate=48.266666 PPS;Type=ETHERNETCSMACD;CurrentUtilization=1.22978294E10 %;InputPacketRate=67.25084 PPS;TrafficRate=1.53722871E16 BYPS;UtilizationThreshold=40;DuplexMode=FULLDUPLEX;MaxSpeed=1000000000;

2) EVENT DESCRIPTION = PORT-10.5.11.207/1.49 [Gi0/1]:HighBroadcastRate; PORT-10.5.11.207/1.49 [Gi0/1]:HighUtilization;

3) EVENT DESCRIPTION = HighBroadcastRate::Component=PORT-10.5.11.207/1.49 [Gi0/1];AvgInputPacketSize=2.28577941E14;InputPacketBroadcastPct=2.33012352E9 %;Type=ETHERNETCSMACD;InputPacketRate=67.25084 PPS;InputPacketBroadcastRate=12.7425 PPS;DuplexMode=FULLDUPLEX;MaxSpeed=1000000000;BroadcastThreshold=15;

All these switches are running similar IOS - (C3550-I9Q3L2-M), Version 12.1(9) EA1c.

I doubt this could be issue with IOS,has anyone seen this before.

thanks in advance

Have not seen any known issues with the 3550's , that being said that version you are running is about as old as it gets for that line , it is up to 12.2.44SG now . You would have to look on the switch while its happening to see if those interfaces are truly busy and not rely on the snmp traps .
