Switch ports up and down SG200-50P

Wyocat193

My SG200-50P Switch Log appears as follows with Random ports going up and down. I am trying to find out if this links to another problem I'm having with a Client Server software locking up on the client end. The hardware, thin clients and desktops, are working and have checked all sleep and power settings. All items in working order, now I'm wondering about the switch

PLEASE help...

Thank You

John

Hello John.

The possible reason of event status change are:

Due to a hardware... or you have some one behind doing shut and no shut to the interfaces.

Speed and/or duplex mismatch.

Those messages regarding STP are just one consecuence of the first...

Let's start troubleshooting layer 1,

- Make sure cables are fine.

- If cables are ok, then swap the cable, move it to another interfaces and check if the issue follow the cable or follow the interfaces.

Now you know if the new interfaces where you plugged the cable if the issue stops then you know you have a problem with the interfaces, if it's still giving the same problem, swap the cable with a good one,

if still no good, then check duplex and speed, and make sure that it's configured properly in BOTH sides.

if it's a fiber link, then check fiber cable and transceiver.

I want to share with you this link, it's a good one to have for this kind of issues:
