Hello All,

I'm new to Cisco switches and have been tasked to decide which switches would fit for our needs.

We are a data warehousing company and host servers for schools across the country. We want gigabit to our desktop users (50)and to our servers(80). Currenlty, my suggestions are 4 x 48port switches either the 2950 or 3560 series. We need the ability to Vlan traffic which both have, if I'm not mistaken and scalability as well for the future as we are growing quickly.

Hi

Cisco 2950 is a Layer 2 Switch which brings in some advanced security features and QOS features within with Enhanced Imaged installed on it.

But in the other hand you can configure up advanced routing as well as advanced L3 functionalities with 3560 with enhanced imaged on it.

I feel both differs based on the performance too..

Still i would suggest to go thru these data sheets and find out the deliverables by both these models which can best fit into ur network keeping both ur current and future needs in mind..
