Hi all,

How do I know if a CISCO switch has a specific feature that I need ?

I real example: I need to buy a switch to create a VLAN Access Map, and the action statement must be REDIRECT

I have a 2960x switch and there's no REDIRECT command available... only DROP and FORWARD

As per your requirement, you should able to perform the task with base license.

you can also navigate feature navigator :

I'm using a base license, and this 2960X has no option to REDIRECT, only drop and forward. I'll try the feature navigator

Tauer,

The best resource for this is the Cisco Feature Navigator (CFN) : https://cfnng.cisco.com/ . Once you get the information about the feature for the platform and IOS release, you can check the configuration guide / command reference for any options that are available for a feature as they will not all be listed in the CFN (such as the example you gave here).

Hope that helps.

Hi,

It appears that the "redirect" command is only supported on the larger platforms like 6500, 6700 and some Nexus switches like the 3000 and the 9Ks and not so much on smaller Catalyst switches like 2960x, 3750, 3800, 9300, etc...

HTH

So... thats what I need... I place that tells me where this command is supported (platform or IOS version), so I can buy the right one. The feature navigator didn't help this time
