%SYS-2-FAN_INSUFFICIENTCOOLING Error Message -

Mike A.
Level 1
Level 1

Hello -

Trying to add a 6708 10G-3C blade to an existing 6509-E chassis with 6509-E-FAN, but I am getting the below error message.  My understanding is that the fan is supposed to automatically recognize the 67xx blade that requires 84 cfm and move from restricted power mode to high power but that didn't happen (chassis is limited to 70 cfm per slot currently).  We've re-seated the fan and reloaded the switch - still no luck.  Is this a power supply issue (currently running dual 2500W)?  We ran the power calculator and didn't see any issues.

Thoughts/suggestions?  Thanks.

~Mike

Hi Mike,

If you don't have the card and you want to upgrade, I recommend you go to a different sup like Sup-720-VS or Sup-2T, as all of these sups are end-of-life except Sup-2T and you don't want to purchase something that is already end-of-life.

Have a look at Sup-2T data sheet and let me know if you need more info:

Hi,

Since your sup is 720 and not VS, do you have a PFC card installed?

See table-1 in this link for sup compatibility.

Hi Reza - thank you for the email.  No, I don't believe that we do.  Would you recommend upgrading to the Sup720-3B for the above hardware config?
