SSH might also require a User ID. If so, that's why it would only be telnet, even though telnet and SSH use the VTY lines.

telnet transport is enabled by default on all routers switches but is considered insecure but for ssh the config needs to be specified , its not , it should say tranport input ssh , so that ssh can be used otherwise its default telnet

telnet is the default access method , its enabled by default as a service which means the service is working on the router ( Router is considered as telnet server ), but it need a password to be configured on the router.

you need to configure the number of concurrent telnet session to be established ( i think the default is 4 ), also the password

telnet is not secure , anyone can capture traffic or sniff it can easily read the content it , no encryption.
while it is a best practice to configure an access list ( named as access class ) under telnet.
