Hi Folks

Hi,
I am not aware of any CLI commands that will perform a test of a GBIC - do you suspect that the module is faulty? Are you experiencing errors etc?
Cheers

You can try this command, but it is not really useful, because the interface has to be in
up and up mode, which defits the purpose.
test interfaces gigabitEthernet x/x/xx
If the interface is not up this is the output
Switch-D#test interfaces gigabitEthernet 1/0/46
No IP address for GigabitEthernet1/0/46.
Skipping...
1 interfaces: 0 passed, 0 failed, 0 skipped, 1 untestable
Switch-D#

Try the simple command of "sh inventory". If you get an output that means that the appliance can "see" the component. Other than that you'll need to get an OTDR.

Hi
what is the OTDR

OTDR stands for Optical Tim Domain Reflectometre. The TDR itself is a method of testing small electrical mumbo-jumbo of your copper lines. The Optical TDR will test laser-related links like fibre optic.
