The difference between CQ,PQ, CBWFQ AND DRR, MDRR

Hello,

Im studying QOS Congestion management and cant find the difference between Queuing tools (CQ,PQ, CBFWQ) and scheduling mechanisms - WRR, DRR, MDRR. How schedulling and queuing tools are related ?

1) Do it's possible to enable on interface just queuing tool for example CBFWQ, but without any round robin ? How the traffic with 3 queues would be scheduled then ?

2)Do it's possible to enable just DRR or MDRR but without any queueing (CQ, PQ, CBFWQ) ? How the traffic would be queued then ? Or round Robin is just like an extension to any queueing ?

Thanks in advance!

P.S for example:

Why i would need a separate (DRR, MDRR) scheduler if am using for example PQ. In PQ configurtation i would configure the highest queue've best priority, why i would need a scheduler ?

Generally Cisco has documentation, on their main web site, that would answer all your question.  But finding the answers often requires much digging and cross referencing.

BTW, some of your listed queuing methods are generally only found on routers, and some are only found on switches.  Some of your listed queuing method, are "old", and some no longer supported on newer IOSs.

1) Do it's possible to enable on interface just queuing tool for example CBFWQ, but without any round robin ? How the traffic with 3 queues would be scheduled then ?

There are multiple ways to configure CBWFQ.  Packet selection scheduling would depend on the CBWFQ configuration (and the version of CBWFQ being used).  I.e. unless you describe how you define your 3 queues, cannot answer how scheduling would apply.

2)Do it's possible to enable just DRR or MDRR but without any queueing (CQ, PQ, CBFWQ) ? How the traffic would be queued then ? Or round Robin is just like an extension to any queueing ?

Generally platforms that support DRR/MDRR don't support CQ, PQ, etc.
