To delete and add new running config on Router

i need to delete running config from my router and add  the new once.

what is best way to do this?

To delete the current config, use the command "write erase" followed by the "reboot".

What do you mean by this?  DO you already have a new config?

What mode????  What switch?  I thought you said ROUTER?  What is the model of the switch?  Heck, what day is today?

this is for switch.

sorry for earlier confusion .

i mean to say that i did command on switch 3550  wr ite erase  now i did  reload and press enter

should i console to switch now ?

yeah ,console into the switch and then you can add the new config to the switch to the switch in the follwoing ways:

>> if you have entire config saved somewhere you can copy and paste onto the switch

>> or if you have the config onto the tftp server you can copy from the tftp server onto the switch flash

i have config saved on my laptop.how can i move further from here?

hi mahesh,

press a yes there

to move config from your laptop to siwtch ,either copy paste it to switch in its global config mode .

Or if you have a tftp server copy config to the tftp server ands then copy from tftp server to the switch using command " copy tftp: flash: "
