Trace route Error

hi dear all.

how to solve it,

SW3850LAB#traceroute ma
SW3850LAB#traceroute mac 53bf.6u71.b57f 54bt.64n71.ct46
Error: Source Mac address not found.
Layer2 trace aborted.

SW3850LAB#traceroute mac 54bt.64n71.ct46 53bf.6u71.b57f
Error: Destination Mac address not found.
Layer2 trace aborted.

but the address are available in mac table

Hi,

The Source and Destination address must be in the same VLAN. If you are trying between different VLAN then it will not work.

Hello

Just like your previous post - the mac address your trying to trace route needs to be a valid address, meaning these addresses need to be associated with active devices on your network - Is this the case?

Secondly as already stated for the tracerorute mac to work these mac addresses and their associated devices need be assigned,reside and be active in the same broadcast domain (vlan)
