Traffic does not go through hsrp ip address

Hi Two Nexus7K have configured with hsrp with its address 10.1.1.1 and 10.1.1.2 respectively. The vlan address for this hsrp is 101.1.3 After traceroute, i noticed the traffic goes through 10.1.1.1 instead of 10.1.1.3

Do you think this would have any issue? Thank you

Hi, That shouldn't be a problem, 10.1.1.1 is defined as the active HSRP address. When you do a traceroute each hop will send a TTL exceeded in transit message back from the real IP address of the router or switch. In this instance you know traffic is routed via 10.1.1.1

What you might want to check is see what MAC the host has in its ARP table for 10.1.1.3 and 10.1.1.1. If it's the virtual MAC of 10.1.1.3, and Rji notes, it shouldn't be a problem.
