Hi Everyone,

I did testing with one trunking today.

Sw1 was set to isl trunking and Sw2 was set to dot1q.

Interface used for trunking was fa0/1.

So trunk status was up up but i was unable to reach Sw1 from sw2 that was expected as both S1 and S2 were speaking  different languages.

But when in did sh int fa0/1 on both S1 and S2 it was showing packets going in and out.

need to know if these packets were for carrying vtp advertisemen or spanning tree bpdu etc?

What traffic these packets carry?

Regards

MAhesh

If you could take a wireshark packet capture from dot1q capable NIC/OS, you would see what's exactly going out.

I think thess are 802.1q packets from one end, without responses from other end.
