I am completely new in the world of networking. In our lab I am working on implementation of a single vlan over multiple switches. I have CISCO 2960 8 port and 48 port switch. It is possible to do that?
Thanks In Advance.

Not sure what you are asking. Your question title talks about using a trunk without a L3 switch and yes that is perfectly possible ie. you can connect your switches with trunk links and then multiple vlan traffic can go across the links although with a L3 switch or router you won't be able to route between them.
But then your question itself talks about implementing a single vlan, ie. not multiple, across the switches which is again perfectly possible. You would simply configure the ports connecting up the switches as access ports in that vlan rather trunk links.

Yes Malik..it is Posible.you can create A single VLAN in Multiple switches & you can conect those Switches without Trunk..

Hi Sujal,
Just want to add some more point on your question,
Trunking is the L2 protocol, means it works on Layer2. It is just use as a transport link for the VLAN info from one switch to other depending on the configuration on the trunk link. So it has nothing to do with Layer3, which infact does not mandatorily requires Layer 3 switch to implement Trunking.
Hope this will help you out.

Hardik
