Trying to backup running-config to a Windows Server 2008 FTP server.

Was able to do this on a third-party ftp server with no problems. Now trying to transition over to Windows Server 2008 I'm getting an invalid login/password message after the command is entered. I tried creating a user/administrator in AD and using those login credentials on the switch. I also tried using no credentials and putting the ftp server in anonymous mode. Still got the same message.

The ftp server's log shows the switch attempting log in. When I have no username/password entered it shows me trying to log in as anonymous, when I'm using the account that I set up it shows me trying to log in as that user.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Sean,

There could be a number of different reasons why access to your ftp server on a Server 2008 machine is being denied. If your sole purpose is to backup the running-config, you can always copy the config to a .txt file via cmd or use PuTTY to log the output from your Telnet session, capturing all of the output from your network device. I know this isn't ideal but at least you'll have a good and current backup.

However, I'd make sure to double check permissions for your FTP user account and FTP folder access. This may cause the network device to output an 'invalid login/password' error message.

Thanks,

Mikey
