Trying to find connected device via MAC on Port Channel

Hi,

I am trying to find a device via a layer 2 lookup. I've traced it to an access switch from our core switch. When I look up the table entry on the access switch, it shows the entry on the port channel back to the core switch, however the core switch shows the entry on the port channel to the access switch. I'm somewhat confused as to why it would loop like this. Does anybody have any insights?

Are you using the following line?:

show mac address-table | include xxxx; xxxx is the last 4 values of the MAC address. If it is connected to an access switch the lookup should display a switchport.
