Hi,

When i ping to my network hosts, i got reply from my network hosts and there is a value in reply message and it's is TTL, when i ping to different devices in my network it's showing me different TTL values, even all device is in my same local LAN.

I know ping command work based on ICMP protocol and ICMP is network layer protocol and  when any packet send from destination it's TTL is 255 and decrements by 1 when passing through any device ans same process continue happens when packet pass from every device.

s i want to know what does exactly mean of TTL?

snap is attached of ping command.

Thanks

Alpesh.

TTL's maximum is 255, but some devices and/or applications default with lower values.
