Unable to Connect Ethernet interface on a Catalyst 3550-12 to a Catalyst 2960-x

Hi:

I have C3550-12 all ethernet interfaces are set to speed and duplex auto.  I have a C2960-x all ethernet interfaces are set to speed and dulpex auto. I used a streight through cable and a cross-over cable without any connection.

When I use an Copper SFP on the C2960-X the connection works. I have connected the C3550-12T or the C2960-x to a C2960-compact with either cables and the connection works.

What am I missing?
