Hi,
Even with SMI image you should be able to run RIP version 1 and 2 and static routes.
What is the error message?

That's a strange IOS version, are you sure you have a 3550 switch and not a 3524xl switch ?

Hello Tamilvanan,
Jon is right: IOS filename leads to a C3500XL that is a L2 only switch and this would explain why it complains of your attempt to turn ip routing on
Hope to help

Catalyst 3500XL-EN is a layer 2-only switch. The 3550 "will" support IP routing: RIPv1, RIPv2 and IS-IS. If you upgrade to Enhance Multi-layer switch Image (EMI), it will support the rest. Upgrade of the 3550 is via a hardware (integrated circuit) method only.
