UNBLOCK_CONSIST_PORT, BLOCK_PVID_PEER, RECV_PVID_ERR

Hello everyone,

I get this error on almost all my vlans:

%SPANTREE-2-RECV_PVID_ERR: Received BPDU with inconsistent peer vlan id 780 on GigabitEthernet4/4 VLAN99.
%SPANTREE-2-BLOCK_PVID_PEER: Blocking GigabitEthernet4/4 on VLAN0780. Inconsistent peer vlan.
%SPANTREE-2-UNBLOCK_CONSIST_PORT: Unblocking GigabitEthernet4/4 on VLAN0780. Port consistency restored.

There are fifteen seconds between block and unblock.
I replaced a 2960 switch with a 9200 switch and I have this error on the core switch connected via the Gi4/4 interface to the 9200 switch. On the 9200 the port associated with the Gi4/4 interface on the core shows this simultaneously:

%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/1, changed state to up
%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/1, changed state to down
%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/1, changed state to up
%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/1, changed state to down

The ports on both sides are in trunk mode with a native vlan 99 (there is no portchannel between the 2 switchs) :

switchport trunk native vlan 99
switchport trunk mode
switchport nonegotiate
spanning-tree link-type point-to-point

There is no native vlan mismatch; I use RSTP+ on the network. I also use VTP and have the same revision number and vlan number on both switches. Every hour (more or less) this problem comes up in the logs.

Thanks for helping me...

make double check the spanning tree mode you run in both SW

Both equipments use rapid-pvst

show interface trunk <<-
check the vlan allow in both side are it same or not ?

Below the output of sh int x/x trunk and sh int x/x pruning ;

Core#sh int gi4/4 trunk
Port Mode Encapsulation Status Native vlan
Gi4/4 on 802.1q trunking 99
Port Vlans allowed on trunk
Gi4/4 1-4094
Port Vlans allowed and active in management domain
Gi4/4 1-3,6-24,100,727,751,780
Port Vlans in spanning tree forwarding state and not pruned
Gi4/4 1,14,727,751
Core#sh int gi4/4 pruning
Port Vlans pruned for lack of request by neighbor
Gi4/4 2-3,6-13,15-24,100,780
Port Vlan traffic requested of neighbor
Gi4/4 1-3,6-24,100,727,751,780

9200#sh INT te1/1/1 trunk
Port Mode Encapsulation Status Native vlan
Te1/1/1 on 802.1q trunking 99
Port Vlans allowed on trunk
Te1/1/1 1-4094
Port Vlans allowed and active in management domain
Te1/1/1 1-3,6-24,100,727,751,780
Port Vlans in spanning tree forwarding state and not pruned
Te1/1/1 1-3,6-24,100,727,751,780
9200#sh int te1/1/3 pruning
Port Vlans pruned for lack of request by neighbor
Te1/1/1 none
Port Vlan traffic requested of neighbor
Te1/1/1 1,14,727,751

Some vlan are not in the forwarding state rstp on the core side while it appears that it is the case for the 9200. Another strange thing is that no vlan is pruning on my 9200 while these ports contain only access ports in these vlan 1,14,727,751

that the issue

Port Vlans in spanning tree forwarding state and not pruned
Te1/1/1 1-3,6-24,100,727,751,780

%SPANTREE-2-RECV_PVID_ERR: Received BPDU with inconsistent peer vlan id 780 on GigabitEthernet4/4 VLAN99.
%SPANTREE-2-BLOCK_PVID_PEER: Blocking GigabitEthernet4/4 on VLAN0780. Inconsistent peer vlan.

the issue come from missing some VLAN in SW.

can you share the vtp status

I have already check the VTP because at the beginning I thought it was the problem...

ok, can you check
show vlan
check if the vlan missing is active or inactive ?

Hello
Sounds like you have dynamic vtp pruning on, If so would suggest to turn this off and manual prune your trunks instead.
Also make sure you don't have any bpdu filtering enabled?
