We have a 6500 running CatOS.
The sh counters command under some ports on WS-X6148A-GE-TX module, show the rxHCDropEvents increasing constantly. I get any or poor information about this counter on Cisco.com. Could be this counter related to any exhausted ASIC on this group of ports? Could be any hardware problem? I put the sh counters output on the output interpreter without any good help.
Any help will be welcomed.

Hi Pinku, the CatOS version is:
WS-C6509-E Software, Version NmpSW: 8.4(5)
Copyright (c) 1995-2005 by Cisco Systems
NMP S/W compiled on Aug 3 2005, 13:13:36
System Bootstrap Version: 12.2
System Boot Image File is 'bootdisk:cat6000-sup32pfc3k9.8-4-5.bin'
System Configuration register is 0x2102
About the rxTotalDrop counter, I can't get it in the sh counters command nor in the sh tech. Maybe the CatOs version is the issue.
Here is the sh counters ouuput:

Any help to clarify this strange rxHCDropEvents increasing counter?

This seems to be cosmetic bug..rxHCDropevents accounts for Drops due to Broadcast supression (Storm Control feature) whereas 6148A doesn't support that feature and hence the counters ur getting seems to be inaccurate (it should be zero with this version of LC)...8.6(1) and higher should be able to address this issue.
Note :-
-You might wanna check Hw/Sw compatibility
-If this doesn't address the issue, you might wanna call TAC to get further assistance at the ASIC level..
cheers
