Upgrade from 16.3.7 to 16.12.08

I'd like to update my WS-C3850-12S from version 16.03.07 to 16.12.8. Do I need to follow an update path of intermediate versions or can I simply upgrade to 16.12.8? Same upgrade concern for the ROM which is currently IOS-XE ROMMON.

Jump direct to 16.12.X. Direct upgarde is supported.

Switch you do not required to upgrade ROMMON, this will be automatically upgraded part of upgrade.

you can upgrade straight to the target version read the release notes :  The version Cisco suggestion was 16.12.11 MD

1.take the configuration backup out of the box

2.read the release notes and understand any major changes which effect your config.

3. if the stack give more time to upgrade.

Direct upgrade is supported, however, the switch will perform a micro-code upgrade the the reboot times will go up to 9 minutes.  

Next, why not upgrade to 16.12.12?  This version has fixes to some Security Vulnerabilities.
