Hello,
I am trying to find if there are any issues in upgrading hybrid 6500 in one reload. We plan to put the IOS on MSFC and CATOS on SUP, change the boot statements and reload the device. Is this expected to work good?
Thank you!!

Hello,
Since you are planning to upgrade, you should upgrade to native IOS as Cisco will not have any Cisco Catalyst OS development after Cisco Catalyst OS 8.x.
have look at this link:

Thank you.
The version that we are planning to upgrade is 8.6. Under 8.x version there are no compatible images for using highavailability versioning.
The device is currently at 7.4(2) CATOS and IOS 12.1(8b)E11. The plan is to put 8.6(4) and 12.1(27b)E4 in respective bootflash (SUP2) .... change the boot statements and reload. Is this expected to work? Unfortunately don't have a test lab....

Hello,
you will need a maintanance window because without high availability the system should fall back to fast switchover that is slower and it takes the time to reload both supervisors (and their MSFCs).
Hope to help
Giuseppe
