upgrading from 3.6.6E to 16.12.5 MD help

i have 3650 switches that need to be upgraded from 3.6.6E to 16.12.5 MD. Can i upgrade directly through booting from the new image? also do i need to update the ROM version?

the document below mention it is possible but just need to make sure

hi,

do you have AAA and TACACS+ configured?

note the new TACACS+ syntax will be enforced (since 16.12.2) and will be configured under AAA server group.

as others have mentioned read carefully the release notes.
