Upgrading License on Cisco 4500 with Dual Supervisors

Hello all

Has anyone had any experience of upgrading a license on a Cisco 4500 chassis with dual supervisors? We need to upgrade one of ours to use IP Base, currently on LAN Base.

My questions are:

  1.        Do we need to reboot both Supervisors after the license has been installed – ‘redundancy reload shelf’ or just the one (the active Sup)?
  2.        Do we even need to reboot at all? Will the license install and be activated right away?

The details:

Chassos: WS-C4510R+E

Supervisor: WS-X45-SUP7-E x 2

Image: cat4500e-UNIVERSALK9-M, Version 03.03.02.SG

I have checked out this guide:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-4500-series-switches/white_paper_c11-685524.html

However, it discusses four deployment scenarios:

1. Supervisor Upgrade to Supervisor 7-E or 7L-E

2. Greenfield Deployment with New Supervisor 7-E, 7L-E and Cisco Catalyst 4500-X Series Systems

3. Deploying Redundant Supervisor

4. Changing Supervisor across Chassis or Supervisor RMA

5. License Re-Host, Chassis Upgrade

Our situation doesn't seem to fall into any of those categories as our chassis is already populated with the dual Sups. Thanks for your advice.

Thank you
