users for an entire vlan getting disconnected on a random time

Hello everyone,

We are currently experiencing an unusual event regarding our infrastructure. On the last couple of months users on a certain switch has been complaining that they are getting disconnected. Tried to check the spanning tree status as well as the mac address learning time and they are all the same across the entire network.

Appreciate if you guys can give me additional perspectiveon how I can determine the root cause.

Here are some information:

1. Core Switch is a 4500X in VSS. They are also the gateway of all the vlans

2. the access switch is a four member stack switch.the uplinks are connected via switch 1 and switch 4 but the master of the stack is switch 2.

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Jay

Hello Jay,

on a quick note, check if all switches in your stack as well as the core run the same VTP version. Is there anything logged on stack switch 2 which indicates that the stack membership is lost, or uplink goes down ?

Hi gpauwen,

Thank you for taking a look on my question. I checked the logs but as far as logs are concern i dont see anything pertaining to the stack membership being lost or stack ports going down.

Thank you
