Hello everyone,
Easy question probably, so by default when you create a VLAN on either a 2950 or 36/3700 switch, it will not see other vlans correct? lets say i create vlan 1, 2, and vlan 3. I want to have vlan 1 and 2 talk to each other but of course vlan 3 to not for lets say department purposes... anyone know how i can accomplish this and if possible give me an example of commands etc.?
Thanks in advance

For the vlans to communicate amongst each other you will need a router to enable inter-vlan routing. Otherwise, the hosts in each vlan will not be aware of one another. To limit communications to Vlan one talking to Vlan 2 and vice versa but no one talks to vlan 3, you will need to create ACLs defining the limitations and apply the ACLs to the respective vlans on your router's (routed) Vlan interfaces.

You can use router for inter-vlan routing, like Antonio said, also you can use any L3 switches, like Cisco 3560 or 3750, for example for routing with interface vlans
