VLAN internal usage Sup2T

Hi!

I have searched hi and low and have not got any answer.
We have a couple of VSS. VSS01 have 6509-E (R7000) with SUP720 and IOS 12.2(17r)SX7.
VSS02 is a pair of C6509-E (M8572) with SUP2T and IOS 15.2(1)SY4.

I have always know that if I create a sub interface and dot1q encap it will reserve a internal VLAN. But I just discovered that in VSS02 VLANs used on sub interfaces are not reserved as a internal VLAN.

Does anyone know if it is tied to SUP2T or the IOS version?

Will it be some problems if I for example use dot1q 20 on a sub interface and interface VLAN 20?

Is the C6500 with sup2t finally acting as a router?
That would solve many problems for us!

The 6500 is natively a switch, so you can simply create a vlan with an SVI and not worry about any sub-interfaces.

Sub-interfaces are mainly used on routers as they don't support SVIs.

We use both SVI and routed ports with subinterfaces to isolate L2 domains from eachother.
