Q1. Yes

Q2. No. Because VLANS are logical broadcast domains, you need routing capability to communicate between VLANS

Q3. More info needed...

at all i can help you with this :

Q1:yes

Q2:

if you want routing between vlans only with switch

your switch must be work at layer 3.

for example c3550,c3750,and another layer 3

Q3:

like answer to Q2 tou should have layer 3 switch or a router that you can use inter vlan routing and use bandwidth controling.

answers: 1: yes you can create VLan with private address.

2. No. As vlan is considered as broadcast domains , you cannot route packets between vlans for that you need routers.however you vlans can exchange vlan informations through VTP

Q1. yes, it is possible to create vlan with private address.

Q2. no, you can't. to communicate between vlans you have to use layer 3 device such as router or Multilayer switch.

Q3. about this question I have no idea of this. but you can give priority to traffic from specific vlan using QoS.

Hi :

A1: you can create vlan with all ranges as you want.

A2: its not possible to route between vlans only with your switch ,because 2950 only support layer 2 switching and if you need routing between vlans ,you need a router or another switch that works on layer3.

A3: no 2950 does not support this feature.

yes you can configure private IP address in the vlan interface, because the interface can't diffrentiate between private or public IP. but in 2950 you only have management vlan interface because this switch ic not layer 3, and you can't make inter-vlan communication using this switch, you need a layer 3 device to do this. Also you can't bind bandwidth with particular vlan.

A1: Yes, vlans can be created with Private addresses. That is what they are usually created with.

A2: Yes you can communicate among vlans using a switch only. However, the switch must be a Layer 3 switch. The 2950 is not a Layer 3 switch.

A3: You can try some QoS on the switch but that is about the extent of bandwidth policing you will be able to do on the 2950.

The 2950 is a nice Layer 2 switch but that is what it is meant for - Layer 2 switching.
