VMotion Question (Motion between Different Subnets)

Dear All,

I am little bit confused with the VMotion topic. I do understand that the VMotion reuqirement is to be on the same subnet because the VM itself as IP does not change, hence obviously, it should be on the same subnet when it move. however, I have heared that there are ways to move the VMs between different subnets but I am not sure if this is true.

Thanks your answers in advance!

Ismail

Not without having to reconfigure your virtual hosts.

If you move your VM into a different VLAN/subnet then any IP configuration on the VNIC will be incorrect, and you will need to connect to the virtual machine and reconfigure its network interfaces.

Cheers.
