Voice packets (broadcasts) in the data vlan

Hi all,

I've noticed when sniffing on a port that has a voice and data vlan configured, I see broadcast packets of the voice vlan on my PC which is in the data vlan.

I have the same behaviour behind a phone as when directly patched to the switchport.

No softphone is installed on my PC which could cause cdp packets to be send..

All Cisco devices.

Is this normal behaviour?

Thanks for your quick replies!

Br,

Dario

yes if you have not disabled pc voice vlan access, then the phone will forward voice data to the pc connected. To disable log onto call manager and , select devices and phone, click find select your device and scroll down until you find Product Specific Configuration Layout.

You can disable it in there, or on any template for your phones. You will need to enable if you plan to do any trouble shooting or connect into a voice port at the switch.
