Dear friends,

I get the following error on the VSS standby chassis at bootup.

Error: router peer template mode is NULL

Error: router session template mode is NULL

However, i am able to get connectivity to the switch and everything is working fine.

But i wanted to know really what these error messages mean and if there is a way to avoid them.

I am running 6500 with VS-720 sup and IOS is 12.2(33)SXI3.

Please advise.

Thanks a lot

Gautam

Hi Gautam,

These are cosmetic errors during VSS boot up process.  They do not harm any thing and as you already know will not effect the functionality of the router.  These errors have been there since the release of SXI1 and I have seen them since.  I have spoken to Cisco IOS BU and there is no immediate plan on fixing these error soon since they are cosmetic.
