VSS for layer 3 only 6500

I have 2 6500 at the core, that have only L3 links to the DC and the campus. I'd like to set VSS but I'm wondering if it's possible in such scenario. It uses OSPF for the routing.

I'll have the unified configuration, the NSF ans SSO technologies, ..

But the VSL is L2 only I think? So how could it work?

Yes, you can setup VSS on the core and still keep the L3 links to both the campus and DC. VSL is layer-2 but that is only for between the 2 VSS switches and does not effect the uplinks to other segments.Once you convert to VSS, both your cores switches logically act as one switch.

As Reza notes, it's possible to use VSS with only L3, but if you're only L3, you may be better off keeping your two 6500s as non-VSS.  Whether VSS is "better" or not, depends on what you believe you'll achieve with VSS.

Yes, that's correct, but it's a special link for VSS.  As Reza also noted, your two 6500s are configured as one device.  The VSL isn't configured as a "normal" L2 or L3 link.
