Hi You dont have to no , its not a requirement but it adds a lot like extra throughput redundancy etc , you dont use a stack cable its just ethernet cable on 4500 as a VSL link to bridge the 2 units to 1
Currently, I have VSL configured in Te1/0/5-6 (Po1) in VSS switch 1 and Te2/0/5-6 (Po2) in VSS switch 2 with the dual active configuration in port number 1/0/10 in both switches.
