VTP Pruning disabled during IOS upgrade

We have a pair of 6513s and upgraded the IOS version to 12.2(33)SXI4a. After the upgrade we noticed VTP Pruning was disabled:

#sh vtp stat

VTP Version                     : 3 (capable)

VTP Operating Mode              : Server

VTP Pruning Mode                : Disabled (Operationally Disabled)

VTP V2 Mode                     : Disabled

VTP Traps Generation            : Disabled

Is there any effect to production we need to to consider when re-enabling? (In other words, do we need to wait until a maintenance window to enable?)

Also, we are using VTP v2 (and v1...) on our VTP Client 3560 access switches. Any considerations there?

Many thanx

Since enabling VTP pruning will eliminate unnecessary flooding of unicast and broadcast, it should effect the production network.  However to be on the safe side, you can enable it during an outage window.

We are (finally) revisiting this. I want to confirm a few points before we proceed:

a) Will there be an impact to SPT when enabling VTP?

b) We are using Catalyst 3560s at the access layer, IOS v12.2(44) -- since these are not VTP v3-capable, any config considerations on the cores?

c) Any other commands to be considered? or just "(config)#vtp pruning" on the cores?

Current VTP status:

#sh vtp stat

VTP Version                     : 3 (capable)

Configuration Revision          : 440

Maximum VLANs supported locally : 1005

Number of existing VLANs        : 159

VTP Operating Mode              : Server

VTP Domain Name                 :

VTP Pruning Mode                : Disabled (Operationally Disabled)

VTP V2 Mode                     : Disabled

VTP Traps Generation            : Disabled

MD5 digest                      : 0x83 0x91 0x10 0x08 0x9B 0xC5 0x9B 0x47

Configuration last modified by at 10-25-12 23:16:30

Local updater ID is on interface Vl2 (lowest numbered VLAN interface found)

VTP version running             : 1
