VTP revision number overflow

In VTP, the revision number is a 32bit field, incremented by 1 after each change in the VLAN database. I was wondering what would happen if this value is overflowed. Will the VTP domain stops syncing VLANs correctly? Would the value resets to 0? What will happen exactly?

Good question!

I don't know, but I try to remember to warn people, once they surpass three billion revisions, they should consider being careful and possibly consider resetting the revision number back to zero as they only have a bit more than one billion revisions available before they find the answer to your question (the hard way).
